2015 East Coast Regatta Season Review
The 2015 season saw Arklow Rowing Club crews take an unprecedented 18 wins, three championships wine and one championship second place over the nine race regatta season. The season started with the Arklow Regatta on the 7th of June and concluded with the Wicklow Regatta on the 3rd August. Results as follows:
Senior Ladies: Eight wins out of eight races participated and winning the ECRC Senior Ladies Championships.
Junior Ladies: Three wins out of a season of nine races and in what was a highly competitive category taking a second place in the ECRC Junior Ladies Championships.
Intermediate Ladies: In a new category this season the Arklow crew took three wins and the Championship.
U 18 Girls: The U 18 Girls were a new crew this season and limited their outing to the last two races of the year. Demonstrating some fine style and technique they came fourth in Dalkey but took a 2nd place at the Wicklow Regatta. The ladies ranks in the club look safe for years to come.
Junior Men’s: This season the Junior Men’s crew participated in a limited number of races but saved their best racing until the Wicklow Regatta by taking a resounding victory.
Intermediate Men’s: This season saw the crew of the Intermediate Men’s step up from the Novice Category last season (in which they were placed second in the Championship). This year was very much a learning year for the crew however over the nine race season they demonstrated through grit and character which bodes well for the future.
U 16 Boys: It has been 20 years since the club has had an U 16 Boys crew and during this season the crew were involved in some of the best and closest racing of the season. Having won in Skerries the crew needed two wins from the last two races on the calendar; Dalkey and Wicklow. This they achieved in style taking the ECRC U 16 Championship by 1 point.
